Activation adds nothing. It switches on what was already there.

The Four Movements

Activation adds nothing.

Nothing is given to you in an activation. Something that was already yours stops being unreachable.

Activation is the least understood of the four movements, and it is the one people most want to be given something in. They arrive hoping to receive a capacity, a download, a thing they did not have before.

That is not what happens. Nothing is added. What happens is that something already yours, which had become unreachable, becomes reachable again.

Clearing removes. Activation restores.

Those two sentences are the whole distinction, and I put them next to each other on purpose, because almost everyone collapses them.

Clearing takes out what is held — the compression, the pattern, the thing that understanding alone has never moved. It is subtraction. Activation returns charge to capacity that is intact but inert. It is not addition; it is reconnection.

You can see why they get confused. They happen in the same hour, in the same field, often minutes apart. But they move in opposite directions, and knowing which is which changes what you expect from a session.

Why every session opens here

I activate before I clear. Always, including in a twenty-minute call.

The reason is practical. A field with no charge in it does not release anything. If I go straight to a dense, long-held block in a system that is running on very little, the block does not move and the person leaves tired. Activation brings the system up first, so that when the held thing is addressed there is something present to meet it.

Activation is not the finale. It is the condition that makes the rest of the work possible.

You are not being given a capacity. You are being reconnected to one you stopped being able to reach.

What it actually feels like

A first session covers the range — heat, pressure, expansion, emotion, stillness, or very little. All of that is accurate. What I want to add here is the particular quality of an activation, as distinct from a clearing, because people often cannot tell me which one they just felt.

A clearing tends to register as something leaving. Weight coming off. A loosening. Occasionally a brief intensification just before it goes.

An activation registers as something coming online. People describe brightness, or widening, or a sensation of the chest and upper body filling. Several have used the word awake, which is as close as the language gets. It is not an arrival of energy from outside. It is more like current reaching a circuit that was built and never switched on.

And sometimes it is nothing at all in the room, and then on Thursday you do something you had been unable to do for two years without noticing that you did it.

Three things activation is not

It is not a download. Nothing is transmitted from me into you. If a practitioner tells you they are installing something, ask what happens when they stop.

It is not a permanent high. The elevated feeling some people have in the hours afterward is a side effect, not the result. The result is that something is available to you that was not available last week, and you will mostly notice it by using it rather than by feeling it.

It is not the clearing. This is the one that matters most. Activation on top of a block that is still in place produces a brief surge and then a return, because the charge has nowhere to go. That is the mechanism behind a great many experiences that felt enormous and lasted four days.

Why the order is activate, clear, activate

I activate at the start, work through what is held, and activate again at the end. The second one is not a repeat.

The first brings the system up so there is enough present for the held thing to release into. The second is different: once something long-standing has come out, there is a space where it was, and capacity that had been pinned under it. The closing activation is what returns charge to that capacity, so the person does not leave with a gap where the pattern used to be.

Skipping that last step is how people end up feeling oddly flat after otherwise good energy work. Something came out and nothing came back on.

What goes inert, and why

Capacity rarely disappears. It gets made unsafe, and then it gets switched off to keep you safe.

A person who learned early that their intelligence made a parent uncomfortable does not lose the intelligence. They lose access to using it in front of people. Someone whose instinct was repeatedly overruled still has the instinct; what has gone is the charge on it, the thing that makes it arrive loudly enough to act on.

That is almost always what I am switching back on. Not a new gift. The original one, with the current restored.

What you can do without me

A fair amount, and I would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Capacity that went inert from disuse rather than from a held pattern often comes back on its own once it is used. If you stopped drawing at nineteen because someone was unkind about it, and nothing deeper is attached, drawing badly for a month will frequently do what a session would.

Where that does not work is when something is actively holding it down. Then use produces effort and no return, and you conclude you have lost the thing rather than that access to it is blocked. The honest test is whether repetition is slowly improving the situation. If it is, keep going. If two years of trying has produced no movement at all, the problem is not practice.

Which is why I am not interested in being the source of it. If I were adding something, you would need me to keep adding it. Restoring something that was already yours leaves you holding it afterwards, and that is the only version of this work worth doing.

Every session opens with activation, including the twenty-minute one. It is the shortest way to feel the difference.
