What it actually means to read someone’s energy field
What it actually means to read someone’s energy field.
Not a feeling. Not a vibe. A location, an age, and a line back to where it started — walked here from first sight to root.
People ask me what I see, and the honest answer disappoints them at first. I do not see auras in rainbow colours. I do not see your future spread out like a map. What I see is closer to structure: where something is held, how dense it is, roughly how long it has been there, and what it is connected to.
That is the whole of it, and it is more useful than the colourful version. A colour tells you nothing you can act on. A location, an age and a line back to the root tell you exactly what we are working with.
Reading is locating, not sensing
Most people imagine a reading as reception — sitting quietly until impressions arrive. For me it is nearer to looking. I go to the field, and I look for the places where it stops behaving like the rest of it.
A field in motion has an evenness to it. Where something is held, that evenness breaks. There is compression, or density, or a place where movement simply stops and then picks up again on the other side. Those breaks are what I am looking for. I am not waiting to be told something about you. That is the difference between prediction and perception — one receives information about a future, the other locates something that is present right now.
The field is not a mood. It has geography, and the geography is readable.
One block, from first sight to root
Here is a real one. The details are changed enough that no one is identifiable, and the shape of it is exactly as it happened.
A woman in her forties booked an hour to talk about a business decision she had been circling for most of a year. Two good options, a clear spreadsheet, no obvious wrong answer, and she could not move. She had already decided the problem was that she was bad at decisions.
The first thing I saw was not in her head. It was a band of compression across the upper chest and into the base of the throat — dense, narrow, and still. Everything above and below it was moving normally. The band was not.
Density tells me how established something is. This was not a fresh reaction to the decision in front of her; it had the thickness of something that had been there for years. When I followed it for age, it read as roughly a decade old, which she confirmed later meant nothing to her at the time.
Then I followed what it was attached to. A held place is almost never isolated — it runs back to something. This one ran to a specific situation: a meeting, years earlier, where she had said what she actually thought and it had cost her badly. Professionally and then personally. She had long since stopped thinking about it.
She did not have a decision problem. She had a cost-of-speaking problem, and it was ten years old.
That is the part a reading gives you that nothing else does. She was not stuck between two options. She was stuck in front of any option that required her to state a position out loud. Both of her choices did. So both of them met the same band, and the band did not care which one was better.
What I am actually asking the field
Every reading runs the same four questions, in the same order. They are unglamorous and they are the method.
Where is it. A held place has a position — in the body, around it, behind it, or running through it. Position matters because it is consistent. Throat and upper chest behave differently from gut, and differently again from the field behind the shoulders.
How dense is it. Density reads as establishment. Something formed last month moves when you look at it. Something formed in childhood does not.
How old is it. Not a date on a calendar — a depth. I am asking whether this belongs to the situation the person is describing or whether the situation is simply where an older thing is currently showing up.
What is it attached to. This is the one that decides the session. A block with no attachment clears quickly. A block running back to a moment, a relationship, or a lineage needs that root addressed, or it rebuilds.
Why I would rather not hear your history first
If you tell me the whole story before I look, I am no longer reading your field. I am reading your field through the frame you have already built around it, and that frame is often the thing holding the block in place.
So I look first. Then you tell me what it means to you, and that part matters enormously — recognition is yours, not mine. What a first session is actually like follows that order from start to finish: I look, I say what I see, you recognise it or you do not, and we work with what is actually there.
In her case, she recognised it immediately. Not the band — the meeting. She had not connected the two in ten years, and once she saw the line between them, the decision stopped looking like a decision at all.
That is what reading a field is for. Not to tell you something impressive. To show you where the thing actually sits, so it can be cleared from there rather than managed from above it.
If you want to know what is actually sitting in your field, twenty minutes is enough to find it and clear one thing.
